So, Gold Membership. What’s it all about?

Many of you have been on the List from the get-go 15-odd years ago (see more on our About page). In the beginning, it was an email newsletter providing a free service for job-seekers and job-posters – and it operated like that for over a decade!

When the site launched in 2013 and we started charging job-posters, we covered our hosting, development and design costs (just). We made a little extra to occasionally commission blog posts. But we actually made no money ourselves from it. From all the time and the writing and the marketing and the admin – we made ZIP. Which is kind of crazy after the years and the hours we put into building it. It also kind of restricted what we could do with it, how we could grow it, and the kinds of resources we could create for all of you. So on June 1, 2015, we created an annual admin fee, which has recently become our Job Seeker Gold Membership of $29.95.

What do you get for your membership fee?

  • A year’s job board access. You can view full job ads and apply for anything you like, including jobs and short gigs.
  • Access to Short List opportunities. Job-posters who use our Short List service remain hands-off, so we post jobs and filter candidates for them. If you’ve got Gold Membership you’ll hear first about these opportunities and have a chance to throw your hat in the ring before anyone else.
  • Our closed Gold Community on Facebook. Meet other users, network, get advice, talk shop. And be the first to hear about jobs in the Facebook group even before we send the newsletter.
  • Special offers just for members. Right now, we’re offering Gold users a month’s free trial on Rounded, a fab accountancy service for freelancers. And some fab tax packages – contact us for more details.

A huge thanks to those of you who’ve told us how much you value the site and who’ve supported us since the get-go. You’re the reason we’ve been able to re-launch with better features and functionality – and hire part-time staff to help us find you more jobs! So many, many thanks.

Rachel and Leo – I think you do an awesome job and I know you (and the list) are well respected in our industry. It’s a valuable service and I would be more than happy to pay the fee.

I dislike PayPal intensely. Is it possible to pay by bank transfer, please?

    1. Rachel Smith says:

      Hi Robyn and Sally,
We can arrange that. I’ll be in touch with both of you with the bank details.
      Cheers

        Hi Rachel,
I’ve been on holidays and now I’m back I’d like to pay the fee – can I please do so via EFT too? More than happy to pay such a nominal fee, I also really like your website and get a lot out of it (although I think my favourite part is the free bit, the blogs are so great!).
        Thanks,
        Lisa O’Neill

I was surprised when I logged on and saw the pay wall. Then I remembered that I found my current job via Rachel’s List. It’s a terrific service you provide and I’m happy to pay the ‘good bottle of wine’ annual fee. Thank you!

    1. Rachel Smith says:

Hi Sanchia, you must not get the newsletters? We did mention it a few times 🙂 Sorry it was a bit of a shock. But thank you for the support! And so glad you’re in a job you got through us! Makes it worthwhile.
      Rachel

I’m happy to pay it. It’s always been a great service and community. I’m also pleased, from a selfish point of view, that it’s been free for so long. Well done for building such a great resource

Thank-you Jude, that’s so nice to hear.

We'd love to hear your thoughts...
