WE’RE LIVE! Here’s what’s new at Rachel’s List

It’s finally here – the new site is up! After many months in the making, welcome to Rachel’s List 2.0. Here’s what you need to know…

  1. Forget trying to remember that bizarre username. You now sign in with the email you registered with, and the password. Yippee!
  2. The site will remember you. We always knew you were memorable – now the site thinks so too. Once logged in, you should stay logged in for 12 months (provided you click the ‘remember me’ box).
  3. Paid members now get gold status. Yep, we’ve changed the annual membership to Gold Membership, with a slight increase to $34.95/year. This includes a year’s access to the jobs board, exclusive deals (including special freelance tax packages and a month free with our friends at Rounded) and access to a private Facebook community. If you’re currently a Gold Member look out for an email from us today explaining your new-look membership.
  4. Your dashboard’s now even easier to navigate. Once logged in, you can update your info in your dashboard (only for our records, as your profile continues to be private on Rachel’s List). Also use this section to change your password, purchase Gold Membership or see how long is left on your existing Membership. You can also buy job or gig tokens to post roles if you need to do that.
  5. We now have more ways for job-posters to hire you. Along with our usual 30-day job listing for full-time and ongoing freelance roles, we now have a 10-day Short Gig listing. We trialled this with the old site and now it’s a permanent feature. The jobs now include key info at the top including salary or pay rate, the type of experience required (junior, mid-level, senior etc), and whether it’s on-site or off-site. These are things you guys have been asking us for, and we listened.
  6. We also offer a Short List service which is where we post jobs and filter candidates for job-posters who wish to remain completely hands off. Job posters who select this option receive a report with the best candidates and can then arrange interviews in their own time. If you have Gold Membership, you can automatically apply for any Short List roles on the jobs board.
  7. We’ve said bye-bye to The Watercooler. We had high hopes for this feature in the beginning, with PRs able to connect with journalists – but it proved too resource-heavy. Instead, we decided to focus our energies on bringing you the best jobs we can. This includes reminding PRs that we have a great, talented pool of professionals they can tap into!
  8. The blog now has ‘friendly’ URLs. We’re so excited about the new-look blog – but not so excited about losing all our social media shares (par for the course in a move like this). If you have a spare minute or spot a post you love, we’d really appreciate some social love. Hey, sharing is caring!
  9. We’ve finally launched The Toolkit. This was something we wanted for so long! There are free and paid resources in this section, with some tools we reckon can make your work life a lot easier. We’ll do a post about all the Toolkit items soon, but we hope you’ll swing by and take a look at our launch offerings – there’s a super-handy pitch tracker, a rate card you can modify and send to clients, a list of 60 tried-and-tested freelance resources, and an ebook of scripts you can use for a range of freelance situations. We’d love to know what you think of this section (and what you’d like to see in it going forward).

You know, we can’t actually believe this day is here – it seems such a long time ago that Rachel’s List was this tiny networking email! We’ve built two sites since then, now have thousands of members – and we’re so glad you’ve been here for the journey.

That’s it from me. Take the site for a spin – we’d love to hear what you think, and of course, your feedback is crucial if you see any bugs that need stomping. Time to pop that champagne now!

Thanks so much Rebecca! It has been a marathon 🙂

Great job, guys! Love the new look.

My favourite things? The auto log-in (that drove me nuts on the last site, every time I visited I’d get the uh-oh / oops notice for not logging in!) and the toolkit area. Have already purchased some of your specialist knowledge.

Thanks again for sharing all your industry know-how.

Yep – the login ‘remember me’ thing was pretty much in our top 5 reasons to do the site 🙂 Haha. Glad we can lower your stress levels Kylie. And hope you enjoy the Toolkit items you bought! Thanks so much.

We'd love to hear your thoughts...
